EMPLOYEE GROWTH
New-Type Fraud Detection and Prevention
At 12:30 p.m. on July 29, 2021, the sixth session of HITECK TALK kicked off in the company’s library. This event featured Hu Cuiyun from the Finance Department, who, under the theme “Identifying and Preventing Emerging Fraud Schemes,” guided participants through an overview of new types of scams and shared strategies for enhancing awareness and safeguarding personal assets.

Hu Cuiyun began by outlining new types of fraud. The most significant distinction between these emerging scams and traditional fraud lies in the methods employed: perpetrators leverage telephones, text messages, and internet‑based platforms to fabricate false information and devise elaborate schemes, carrying out remote, non‑contact fraud that induces victims—whether willingly or under duress—to transfer funds. Such scams primarily include telecom fraud, online fraud, and other novel forms of deception.
At the same time, she highlighted several key characteristics of emerging fraud schemes: an expanded temporal and spatial scope; group-based operations with strong counter-investigation capabilities; increased technological sophistication and increasingly covert methods; rapid fund transfers and withdrawals that are difficult to trace and control; as well as constantly evolving tactics and accelerating execution speeds—features that have deepened our understanding of these new forms of fraud.

Finally, drawing on various real-life fraud cases, Hu Cuiyun teaches us how to spot scams. She emphasizes the three‑no principle—“don’t believe easily, don’t disclose personal information, and don’t transfer money”—while urging us not to chase small gains and to pursue wealth through lawful means. She also stresses the importance of safeguarding our own assets and, from an individual standpoint, helping to protect corporate and societal property, thereby leaving criminals with no opportunities to exploit.

We look forward to leveraging the HITECK TALK platform to enable more employees to share their industry expertise and professional skills.
