On March 25, 2021, we welcomed the 26th installment of our Ladder Lecture Series. Our guest speaker was Zhang Chenlu from the Marketing Department. During today’s presentation, he guided the audience through an overview of multiple myeloma—its discovery, its historical evolution, diagnostic approaches, and treatment options—before introducing a topic of great interest: the innovative drug Sarclisa® (CPT).

Professor Zhang began this presentation by analyzing the clinical course of the first case of multiple myeloma and reviewing the autopsy findings. Using a classic case, he elucidated the pathological features of multiple myeloma. He then outlined the diagnostic principles for multiple myeloma, highlighting two major advances—imaging studies and bone marrow aspiration—and subsequently reviewed the evolution of treatment strategies, focusing on three pivotal milestones: conventional chemotherapy, autologous stem cell transplantation, and the advent of targeted therapies.

Finally, Professor Zhang unveiled Hite Bio’s long‑awaited new product, Sha’ait® (CPT), enabling the audience to gain a deeper understanding of Sha’ait® (CPT) from the perspectives of its pharmacological mechanisms and R&D directions.

As the world’s first pro-apoptotic agonist targeting TRAIL‑induced death receptors 4 and 5 to complete Phase III clinical trials, Shaait® (CPT) demonstrated robust anti‑tumor activity in the Phase III study, an effect that was independent of prior therapies. Additionally, it was characterized by mild, transient, and manageable adverse events, with a significantly improved quality of life compared to the control group.

Reflection leads to growth, and sharing brings joy. At the conclusion of the session, Max, Chairman and General Manager of the company, presented the Ladder Lecture Hall Honor Trophy to the sharing facilitator.

The understanding, diagnosis, and ultimate treatment of disease are the result of the concerted efforts of theoretically grounded scientists, practice‑oriented and exploratory physicians, patients who risk their lives to provide opportunities for trial and error, and pioneering pharmaceutical professionals. We are confident that Haiter Bio, with its proprietary innovative drug product Sha’ait® (CPT), will bring hope to patients with multiple myeloma and other cancers, and make every possible contribution to humanity’s fight against disease.
